Community invited to celebrate student creativity and achievement at March 29 awards ceremony

Fairfield, CA (March 24, 2026) – FSUSD and Grange Middle School are proud to celebrate three talented 8th grade student artists whose work has been selected for display in The World Needs Art: Youth Art Month Exhibition at the Crocker Art Museum in Sacramento.

The community is warmly invited to attend the exhibition and awards ceremony on Sunday, March 29, to view the students’ artwork and celebrate their creativity and achievement.

  • Location: Crocker Art Museum, 216 O Street, Sacramento

  • View Art: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM

  • Awards Presentation: 12:00 PM – 1:00 PM

The exhibition will be on display from March 5 through March 29, showcasing inspiring student artwork from across the region. The honored FSUSD student artists include:

  • Steven Smith, whose untitled oil pastel piece explores color, movement, and emotion through bold lines and layered textures. His work reflects how art can shift perspective and spark creativity, even on difficult days.

  • Isabella Taylor-Brown, whose mixed media piece Should be Clowning Around Somewhere began as abstract watercolor marks and evolved into a vibrant, expressive character—demonstrating the power of imagination and discovery in the artistic process.

  • Bella Calderon Corro, whose mixed media artwork My Growing Heart captures gratitude through colorful, detailed sections representing the people and experiences that bring meaning and joy to her life.

“These students have embraced creativity in a way that reflects both their individuality and the strength of our school community,” said Heather Oja, Principal of Grange Middle School. “We are incredibly proud of their passion for art, and their willingness to express themselves and share their voices with the community.”

FSUSD Superintendent Jennifer Sachs added, “Opportunities like this highlight the importance of arts education in helping students expand their horizons and tell their stories. We are excited to see our students recognized on such a respected stage and invite our community to join us in celebrating their achievements.”

In addition to this recognition, fifty Grange Middle School art students had the opportunity to visit the museum and participate in docent-led tours in small groups, an enriching experience that deepened their appreciation for art. Advanced Drawing and Painting students from Grange shared their excitement, with one student reflecting, “It was fantastic. I had a lot of fun.” For three of the school’s 8th graders, the highlight of the visit was the unforgettable experience of seeing their own artwork on display in the museum’s Youth Art Exhibit – an accomplishment that makes FSUSD and their families proud, and one they will treasure for years to come.

Community members are encouraged to attend this special event to support these remarkable young artists and experience firsthand the creativity thriving in our schools.
